The 59th Annual General Meeting of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICC SL) was held at the BMICH, Colombo recently where Mr. Johnson (Johnny) Anthony Fernando was elected as its Chairman.
He takes over from the Immediate Past Chairman, Mr. Shanil Anthony Fernando, whose successful tenure was marked by significant milestones, including the inauguration of the ICC Sri Lanka Arbitration and Mediation Hearing Centre, the first in South Asia – establishing Sri Lanka as a regional hub for world-class dispute resolution, as well as the hosting of the 4th ICC Sri Lanka Arbitration and Mediation Conference, the largest ADR event in the country, attracting over 250 local and international participants, including distinguished speakers and panellists.
Mr. Johnny Fernando is a senior corporate leader with over 30 years of experience across diversified industries including engineering, construction, logistics, packaging, printing, and property development. He is a Co-owner and Director of his family-owned companies and currently serves as a Non-Executive, Independent Director of People’s Insurance PLC.
Upon assuming office as Chairman of ICCSL, Mr. Fernando initiated the establishment of a Disaster Relief Committee under ICCSL and committed Rs. 1 million towards supporting communities affected by recent floods.
